 Measuring principle of Ultrasonic Flowmeters

The signal transmitted in the direction of the flow (from A to B) thus has a shorter transit time than the reversed signal that was transmitted against the flow (from B to A). The measured transit time difference is directly proportional to the mean flow velocity. The flowmeter now calculates the volumetric flowrate per time unit by multiplying the product of the mean flow velocity with the pipe diameter.
