1952

The elections

In 1952 a UNIVAC computer will be used to predict the winner of the presidential elections in the USA during a television show hosted by a man named Cronkite. In fact he has the parameters changed during the broadcast in order to reflect his own opinion because he could not believe that the outcome of the computer was correct.
The original results however given by the computer program that ran on the UNIVAC appeared to be correct but Mr. Walter Cronkite new better and did not tell the public what the predictions made by the computer were.

If that would have been the case it is believed that computers would have had a greater impact on the public in a more positive sense. Since the public would have seen the usefulness of such machines much earlier.
